Information For Families

Greetings, Peace Bridge Community,

Welcome to the official beginning of Spring! We hope everyone had a restful and enjoyable March Break, whether travelling, taking day trips, enjoying community activities, or relaxing at home. We know how important a break can be for everyone. Wishing a special Eid Mubarak to all our families who celebrated Eid al-Fitr over the March Break! We all hope your celebrations with family, friends and community were joyful! Also, a big congratulations to Mr. Cottone's Grade 7/8 Class, who were awarded Class of the Week on the Friday before March Break. This class has been the runner-up multiple weeks, and it was finally their moment! They are well known throughout the school as helpers who deliver lunches and are always available to set up for special events. Congrats!

Science Fair Celebration of Learning

The week before March Break, we were thrilled to celebrate our amazing Grade 7 and 8 students' hard work on their Science Fair projects. Thank you to all who attended our Science Fair Open House the day before our school Science Fair. We hope you were as proud of your child's work as our staff team was. Everyone noted, including our esteemed team of judges, that our students rose to this academic challenge in the most incredible ways, completing their scientific work with excellence, creating engaging boards and presenting with confidence.  A special congratulations to our three Peace Bridge winners, as well as the 20 students who will be going to our DSBN Science Fair STEM Expo with their projects. Way to go Intermediates!

1st Place: Chole with her project "Spin It To Win It."

2nd Place: Charlotte with her project "The Science of Sound."

3rd Place: Liv with her project "Hydration Station."

An extra special thank-you to our wonderful Intermediate teachers for all their extra work and support as our students prepared their projects. (Ms. Cann, Ms. McCreadie, Ms. Perala, Ms. Patrick and Mr. Cottone). We would be remiss in not giving an extra thank-you to Mrs. Patrick for her dedication to facilitating the Science Fair for our school. This endeavour took a great deal of organization, extra time and effort on her part, and we are so grateful to Mrs. Patrick for her initiative and hard work. Science Fair is a huge part of the DSBN landscape every year, with many schools participating by holding their own fairs and sending students to the regional championships. Peace Bridge is now ALSO part of this exciting DSBN event! Check out these pictures of our Top 20 and Science Fair Winners!

Important Pick-Up and Drop-Off Changes Beginning NEXT Monday, March 30th

To help improve safety and traffic flow around the school, Peace Bridge Public School will be implementing updated pick-up and drop-off procedures beginning Monday, March 30. This has been at the request of the Town of Fort Erie and with support from NSTS.

What families need to know:

• New bus loading area: Buses will enter from Champlain Drive West and load at the side bus zone, which has been the Kiss and Ride drop-off/pick-up.
• Parent pick-up adjustments: Kiss & Ride will now be in the driveway directly in front of the school to help reduce congestion on the city street in front of the school and improve student safety.

We will send an additional, separate message this coming week with more details before beginning these new arrangements next Monday. For now, we wanted you all to be aware that this change is coming. We appreciate the continued support of our Peace Bridge families as we work together to keep arrival and dismissal safe and smooth for everyone in our school community.

Have a great week, Peace Bridge!

Sincerely,

Liz Bonisteel-Lateef (she/her)

Welcome to Kindergarten- DSBN

Peace Bridge Public School is very fortunate to receive charitable funding by volunteering at our local Delta Uncle Sam’s Bingo Hall. We appreciate the opportunities that this initiative enables us to offer our school community through funding from Bingo revenues.  The benefits that are offered through this initiative provide our students with various enrichment opportunities that support clubs and competitions, athletic programs, assemblies, presentations, transportation for trips and sporting events and many other resources as determined at our regular meetings.
