Information For Families

This Week at Peace Bridge Public School

Hello Peace Bridge Families,

I hope you all had a restful summer and had the opportunity to spend some valuable time with your families.  First, we would like to introduce ourselves.  My name is Zozep (Joseph) Roy, and I am the new principal of Peace Bridge PS. I’m extremely excited about coming to work with the Peace Bridge community and look forward to taking the time to get to know you all.  I’m coming from the Greater Essex County District School Board (GECDSB) and prior to that the Toronto District School Board (TDSB).  Originally my family comes from Wiikwemkoong on Manitoulin Island, and I identify as Anishinaabe.  I have a wide range of experiences throughout my career working in both Elementary and Secondary school settings in a variety of roles.  As we navigate this transition together, my priority will be to make meaningful connections with you all and learn about the community so that I may best serve the interests/needs of the student population at Peace Bridge.

And for those who haven’t met me yet, my name is Liz Bonisteel-Lateef, and I am returning as Vice Principal. I received such a warm welcome this past April when I began here at Peace Bridge and I am looking forward to getting to know our community better as well as welcoming all those who are new to our Polar Bear crew! Before coming to Peace Bridge, I was Vice Principal at Gordon Public School in Welland for two years and prior to that I taught everything from JK-Grade 8 over my 15-year career with the DSBN. My family and I live in Port Colborne, and I grew up singing in a local Fort Erie choir, so it’s been wonderful to return to this part of the region. I am passionate about Literacy and making sure every child who enters our Library Learning Commons see themselves in our book collection. I also love engaging with parents and supporting opportunities for families to share who they are with our wider school community. I am excited to work with Mr. Roy and continue to support our amazing Peace Bridge community.

We are looking forward to seeing all the students back on Tuesday, September 2nd at 9:05am.  At this point you should have already received an email with the name of your child(ren)’s teacher for the 2025/2026 school year.

All staff will be outside on the first day of school to greet students and get them organized into their classes. Kindergarten students should meet their teachers at the Kindergarten Gate, and all other students will be directed to the tarmac by staff to meet their homeroom teachers.  We realize you may want to assist your child(ren) with making their way to the tarmac; however, we encourage you to help our students establish their entry onto school property as an independent routine after the first day. Supervision begins at 8:50am and at that time families should being making their way off school property.  Attendance will be taken at 9:15am moving forward.

 Welcome to Kindergarten- DSBN

Peace Bridge Public School is very fortunate to receive charitable funding by volunteering at our local Delta Uncle Sam’s Bingo Hall. We appreciate the opportunities that this initiative enables us to offer our school community through funding from Bingo revenues.  The benefits that are offered through this initiative provide our students with various enrichment opportunities that support clubs and competitions, athletic programs, assemblies, presentations, transportation for trips and sporting events and many other resources as determined at our regular meetings.
