Greetings, Peace Bridge Community!

Writing you on this sad Sunday, if you, like our family, were cheering for Team Canada's Men's Hockey Team today! Our students have enjoyed getting into the Olympic spirit this week, and we have also been cheering on our own Intermediate Basketball athletes who competed at DSBN's Basketball Tournament. Our intermediate girls made it all the way to the semi-finals, and the boys' team played admirably with 2 wins, a tie and a loss. Both teams also made it to the finals in our own division, with the girls winning the championship game against Garrison Road and the boys conceding to Stevensville by a very small margin. All the teams and their coaches, Ms. Sneek, Ms. Patrick, Mr. LaPierre, Mr. Clark and Mr. Cottone, are winners in our hearts, and we are proud of their consistent level of excellence and hard work this season.

Congratulations as well to our Class of the Week: Ms. Sneek's Grade 6s! This class consistently does what is expected and has been working to improve how successfully they achieve when supply teachers are with them rather than their homeroom teacher. This week, they excelled and are especially commended for their progress with fractions in Math. Great work work Grade 6 students!

Staff and Students Basketball Buy-Out!

On Friday, Feb. 13th, we were excited to host our FIRST Shiver Invitational Staff and Students' Basketball Game! Thanks to your support, the Peace Bridge Community was able to donate over 100$ and multiple boxes of canned goods to C.O.P.E. (Community Outreach Program Erie). Both our students AND staff had an awesome day celebrating teamwork and physical fitness as well as giving back to the community. Check out this picture of our Grade 8 student leaders presenting the volunteers from C.O.P.E. with our donation. Love that Polar Bear Pride!

If you or someone you know needs support, C.O.P.E.'s Food Bank program provides food and other necessities. Assistance provided is strictly confidential and is available to anyone in need who lives in the Fort Erie catchment. They are located at 32 Dufferin St, Fort Erie, Ontario, and are open Monday to Friday, 10 am - 3 pm, excluding public holidays. You can reach them by telephone: 905-871-2526, email outreach@becon.org, or by visiting their website at https://www.copeforterie.org/

You can also always contact our office, and we can help! Never hesitate to ask.

Have a GREAT week, Polar Bears!
