Greetings, Peace Bridge Families!
Another cold week has ended with more snow on the way. Thanks for keeping a close eye on NSTS, DSBN social media accounts, and our own Peace Bridge Parent Council FB account for updates about bus cancellations and school closures. Notifications are typically posted at 6 am. On cold-weather days, we make every effort to allow students time to enjoy the outdoors during recess. Depending on the temperature and windchill factor, the DSBN asks us to keep students indoors or shorten their outdoor time. Please continue to send your child(ren) with the appropriate clothing so they can enjoy their time outdoors.
Mrs. Patrick's Grade 7/8 Class got to keep Shiver, our school mascot, for an extra week after all our snow closures and cancellations delayed our Class of the Week Announcement. We were happy to name Mrs. Bell's Grade 1 Class our NEW Class of the Week this week! They have been working hard to grow as readers and writers, as well as Kindness Superheroes! Way to go, Grade 1 Polar Bears!

It's Family Literacy Week
Every year, Family Literacy Day is celebrated across Canada on January 27th to raise awareness about the importance of reading and engaging in other literacy-related activities as a family. Last week, we shared the Family Literacy Day Activity Book, which is full of great ideas and activities to help you enjoy this year's theme, "Make Mealtime Family Learning Time".

Special shout-out to our friend Travis.M. and his family, who have already contributed a few pictures all about their family's morning time breakfast routine and enjoying cereal together. Every family that submits a picture entry into our shared slideshow will be entered for the chance to win a gift certificate for a family dinner out at The Barrel. Our winning family will be announced on Friday, January 30th.
Reminder: January is Kindergarten Registration Month at the DSBN!
A reminder to all our Polar Bear Families with children turning four in 2026: it is time to register for Kindergarten! Please visit www.dsbn.org/kindergarten to learn more about Kindergarten programming and online registration. If you or someone you know has a child this age, now is the time to get all your paperwork in so we can welcome our newest batch of Peace Bridge Kindergarteners.

A Message from our PIC
The Parent Involvement Committee (PIC) is hosting the “12 Days of Winter Giveaways” fundraiser from December 1–16 (weekdays only) to support our school community. PIC initiatives fund events, field trips, classroom supplies, clubs, sports equipment, and more. Each student receives one free entry in the prize draw and can sell extra tickets (2 for $10) to family and friends. A package with details, a prize calendar, and a fundraising form will be sent home—forms and funds are due Tuesday, November 25, 2025.
